The psychological impact of Covid on health care professionals during the third wave

Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic is a healthcare crisis, with unprecedented impact on services, notable morbidity and mortality of the public workers, economic significant psychosocial impact. Besides, this has had profound negative effect mental health people worldwide, particularly among those who are faced combating virus. Objectives aim research was to examine workers’ (HCWs), as they front line pandemic. Methods An internet-based questionnaire created including following scales: (1)Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (PCL-5), (2) Secondary Traumatic Scale (STSS) (3) Quality Professional Life (ProQOL) (4) Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory, (PTGI), (5) Brief Resilience (BRS), (6) Orientation Problems Experienced Inventory (Brief Cope)], (7) Self-Compassion (SCS-SF). It distributed 120 Greek professionals, nurses, doctors, midwives physiotherapists. Results Most participants were female an average age 46 years. HCWs low levels both primary secondary traumatic stress . They presented post-traumatic growth in dimension relationship others. used predominantly coping strategies positive reframing, acceptance situation, venting, instrumental support. Females statistically higher growth, better quality life, more compared males. Humor mainly by physicians. Nurses worse professional life potentially due increased workload. functional ways resilient seemed have such compassion, satisfaction, lower burnout, stress. Conclusions experience highlights need implement some protect care take extensive prevention measures highly stressful situations.Further needed clarify long-term psychological effects personnel’s health.
